SNR researcher dives into Paraguayan fish conservation with Fulbright Award

Allison Pease, assistant professor in the School of Natural Resources at Mizzou’s College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to support an ambitious six-month research project in Paraguay focused on conserving the country’s diverse river fish populations.

Hot genes: CAFNR scientist earns Fulbright to study heat-resistant cattle in India

Behura will travel to Odisha, India, in two separate four-month visits to partner with researchers at Utkal University. There, he will study how native cattle breeds are genetically and epigenetically adapting to increasingly intense and prolonged heat conditions.

Animal Sciences faculty member named Mizzou Postdoctoral Faculty Mentor of the Year

Peter Sutovsky Peter Sutovsky, professor in the Division of Animal Sciences, was named by Mizzou as the 2024/2025 Postdoctoral Faculty Mentor of the Year Award winner. This award represents an appreciation for an individual who has demonstrated either a profound, sustained, or leadership contribution to improving the postdoctoral experience. The award process is administered by the Office of Postdoctoral Education. The MU Postdoctoral Association reviews the nominations and selects the winner. PST faculty member honored by American Society of Plant Biologists

Gary Stacey, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of Plant Science and Technology and Bond Life Sciences Center principal investigator, was honored by the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) with the Stephen Hales Prize. Stacey’s research focuses generally on molecular aspects of plant-microbe interactions, including studies of the beneficial legume-rhizobium symbiosis and plant-fungal pathogen interactions. He has also been instrumental in the development of genomic resources for the study of soybean. This award honors the Rev. 4D printed foods can change color over time depending on the pH value of proteins used, making them more or less appealing to the consumer. A team of College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources’ food scientists at Mizzou are pioneering the use of 4D food printing technology to revolutionize how meals are made for people with dysphagia, a condition that makes swallowing difficult.
