Jordon Wade to Speak at National Academy of Sciences’ Discussion
Jordon Wade, assistant professor in the School of Natural Resources, was asked to be a part of the National Academy of Sciences’ discussion on “State of Our Soils” on Friday, April 22. The State of the Soil event celebrates the science of soil health and soil health management during a wide-ranging discussion with panelists who will talk about soil health aspects in their respective regions. Craig Paukert Wins Fisheries Excellence Award from North Central Division of the American Fisheries Society
Craig Paukert, cooperative professor in fisheries and wildlife, received the Fisheries Excellence Award through the North Central Division of the American Fisheries Society. This award is given to a North Central member who has made outstanding contributions to the fisheries profession. This contribution may be a single activity or a collection of achievements over the individual’s career.

A Perfect Fit
Every student in the parks, recreation and sport degree program is required to complete an internship, which allows them to apply the academic knowledge they have gained in a professional setting. For Logan Brinkley, that internship led to a full-time job offer. Brinkley spent his final semester at University of Missouri in Las Vegas as a global partnerships intern with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Thomas Bonnot Receives the United States Forest Service Chiefs Award
Thomas Bonnot, assistant research professor in the School of Natural Resources, received the United States Forest Service Chiefs Award in 2021. Bonnot is a member of a team being recognized for his work on Brown-Headed Nuthatch Reintroduction. In addition, the team made the list in the BBC’s wildlife magazine of the top 50 reasons to be cheerful in 2021.

Rebecca North Named Association for Science of Limnology and Oceanography Fellow
Rebecca North, assistant professor in the School of Natural Resources, has been named as a fellow with the Association for the Science of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO). ASLO fellows are recognized as having achieved excellence in their contributions to ASLO and aquatic sciences. Hannah Hemmelgarn, assistant program director of the Center for Agroforestry, recently received a grant totaling $473,481 for the project, Putting Maple on the Map in the Lower Midwest, to explore just that.
