Potential for a Warmer Winter

Tony Lupo, a professor of atmospheric science in the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR), said this past fall – the months of September, October and November – was the sixth warmest in Missouri since the state began keeping records in 1889.

Earl Vories, an agricultural engineer with USDA-ARS, has been studying irrigation on the variable soils at the Fisher Delta Research Center, with a focus during the past five years on variable rate irrigation in cotton fields.

Cheryl Recker Earns Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award — Technical/Paraprofessional

The Mizzou Staff Advisory Council honored 10 Outstanding Staff Awards recipients and those celebrating 40 years or more of service to Mizzou with a virtual celebration recently. The finalists and winners of the Outstanding Staff Awards were nominated by their peers for their exemplary service and dedication to Mizzou. Cheryl Recker, a senior research and lab technician at the Horticulture and Agroforestry Research Center (HARC) in New Franklin, received the Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award — Technical/Paraprofessional. Recker graduated from CAFNR with a degree in plant sciences and has worked with CAFNR since 2017.

Pengyin Chen Honored with American Soybean Association Pinnacle Award

Pengyin Chen, who holds the David M. Haggard Endowed Professorship in Soybean Breeding at the Fisher Delta Research Center, recently received the American Soybean Association’s (ASA) Pinnacle Award, the ASA’s highest honor. Chen was honored during the ASA Awards Program virtual broadcast on Tuesday, March 16. The Pinnacle Award provides industry-wide recognition of individuals who have demonstrated lifetime contribution and exemplary long-time leadership within the soybean family and industry.
