The University of Missouri’s T.E. “Jake” Fisher Delta Research, Extension and Education Center (FD-REEC) invites producers and the public to Portageville, Mo., on Monday, Aug. 10 for the center’s 2026 Field Day.

The annual event brings community members, producers, partners and other stakeholders together to learn about the latest research underway at the FD-REEC and how that research can be applied to southeast Missouri farming operations.

“This Field Day is such a great opportunity for our researchers to share what they’re working on and discovering,” FD-REEC Director Aaron Brandt said. “They’re trying to improve production efficiency, economic viability, sustainability — and transferring that knowledge to producers is so important.”

This year, farm tours will bring attendees to several stops where FD-REEC faculty, MU Extension specialists and graduate students will share updates on the latest research on crop protection, soybean breeding and precision agriculture. Presentations will cover pest control, drone imaging, high-performance soybeans and more.

Farm tours will begin at 9:45 a.m., with two more at 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Tours will leave from Rone Hall — located at 102 County Road 308, Portageville, Mo. — and are expected to last about 90 minutes.

The FD-REEC is a part of the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station and includes over 1,100 acres of land spread across five locations. Researchers at the FD-REEC focus their studies on prominent crops in the southeast Delta region, working for Missouri farmers to improve production of soybeans, cotton, rice, grain sorghum, wheat and peanuts.
