The University of Missouri Board of Curators recently named nine University of Missouri faculty members Curators’ Distinguished Professors and one Curators' Distinguished Professor Emeritus, including three CAFNR faculty members.

Secley Kennedy Honored with Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award
This spring, Staff Advisory Council and CAFNR colleagues gathered in Buck’s Ice Cream Place to surprise Secley Kennedy with the news that she had received the 2024 Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award – Clerical/Office. Kennedy, FNES Director & Chair’s Assistant and FNES Division Coordinator, also serves as the CAFNR Staff Advisory Council Chair. The University of Missouri recently presented the 12 Outstanding Staff Awards during Staff Recognition Week. Recipients were nominated by peers for their exemplary service and dedication to Mizzou. 2024 Roger L. Mitchell Fellow Award to Jaume Padilla
Jaume Padilla, associate professor, nutrition and exercise physiology, has received CAFNR’s 2024 Roger L. Mitchell Fellow Award as part of the College’s annual Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony. The research of Padilla, who is also an investigator in NextGen Precision Health, focuses on the nexus of cardiovascular disease, physical inactivity, obesity and type 2 diabetes, incorporating diverse methodologies from in vitro tissue culture to clinical studies. 2024 Outstanding Mid-Career Research Award: Jaume Padilla
Jaume Padilla, associate professor, nutrition and exercise physiology, has received CAFNR’s 2024 Outstanding Mid-Career Research Award as part of the College’s annual Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony. Joining the University of Missouri in 2009 as a postdoctoral fellow, he become an associate professor with tenure in 2019. Three CAFNR faculty awarded MU Research Council Grants
The University of Missouri’s Division of Research, Innovation and Impact awarded the second round of Research Council Grants in December to 16 faculty members, three of which call CAFNR home. The CAFNR faculty awarded and their projects are: This internal funding of up to $15,000 supports research, scholarship and creative endeavors that lead to book contracts, juried theatre and music performances, art exhibits, peer-reviewed articles and the generation of pilot data to bolster proposals for external funding. Nutrition and Exercise Physiology Professor Receives ACSM Citation Award
Jill Kanaley, professor and interim chair of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, was awarded the Citation Award by the American College of Sports Medicine.
