Q&A With Emma Critchfield

Critchfield is a junior in plant sciences.

Through his job with MFA Incorporated, Charlie Ebbesmeyer helps producers improve their crop health and growth. He meets with growers in the offseason to build plans for the upcoming growing season and then makes in-season fertility and chemical recommendations based off of the plans. A Big Plan for a Small Berry

Andrew Thomas has big plans for a small berry. Thomas, research assistant professor in the Division of Plant Science and Technology in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources at the University of Missouri, has received a Specialty Crop Research Initiative (SCRI) grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the project Moving American Elderberry into Mainstream Production and Processing. The award is for $5,345,255 over a four-year period. Elderberry is a native plant found all over the Midwest and eastern United States. Leon Schumacher Receives 2021 Provost’s Award for Leadership in International Education

Leon Schumacher, professor and agricultural systems technology program coordinator, received the 2021 Provost’s Award for Leadership in International Education. This award recognizes MU faculty who have provided outstanding leadership in strengthening MU’s international dimension. Schumacher’s research focuses on topics such as precision agriculture, smart farm initiative, Internet of Things (IOT), automated farming systems and energy conservation including biodiesel, biomass and ethanol, as well as curriculum-related issues associated with agricultural systems technology.
