The University of Missouri’s Northern Missouri Research, Extension and Education Center (NM-REEC) will host its annual Field Day on Thursday, Aug. 6, at Lee Greenley Jr. Memorial Research Farm.

The event invites the public to explore the research farm — located just outside of Novelty, Missouri — and learn about the research conducted there.

This year’s Field Day will feature tours with presentations on crop, livestock and pest management, covering soil health, flooding impacts, biological stimulants, virtual fencing, reproductive technologies for beef cattle, weed management, plant diseases and more. Speakers will include NM-REEC resident faculty, graduate students and experts from MU Extension.

“Field Day allows us the opportunity to showcase the findings of our applied research,” said NM-REEC Director Jeff Case. “Connecting with the community, with producers, with partners — and showing them all the research we’re doing — it’s such a great opportunity.”

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will start the day with breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by tours starting at 8 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., participants will enjoy lunch and hear updates from featured speakers, including University of Missouri Provost Matt Martens.

The NM-REEC is a part of the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station and is composed of three properties, each focusing research and educational efforts to meet the needs of the local community. The NM-REEC specializes in efficient, profitable crop production, development and evaluation of forage/beef systems and beef cattle reproduction.
