Highlighting Different Agricultural Topics
Science Night at Jefferson Farm and Garden is returning this year, with a handful of in-person events during the next few months. Jefferson Farm and Garden will kick off the series on Thursday, June 24, with an event focused on pollinators. This month’s Science Night is titled, “Help Save the Pollinators,” and takes place during the national 2021 Pollinator Week, which is June 21-25.

Science Night to Focus on Importance of Pollinators
Two triennial events, the 11th Symposium of the International Society of Root Research (ISRR11) and the ninth International Symposium on Root Development (Rooting2021), offered the root research community a closer look at projects from around the globe. In 2021, more than 700 participants from 52 countries had the opportunity to virtually attend both events as a joint venture. The event, which was held May 24-28, was organized to provide as much live interaction among participants as possible.

Root Biology Never Sleeps
The annual Agroforestry Symposium returns in 2021 with a focus on community health and resilient food systems. The symposium, led by the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) Center for Agroforestry, will be completely virtual this year – and free of charge. This is the 12th year of the event and registration is currently open. The symposium will be held from Thursday, Jan. 28, through Saturday, Jan. 30. It will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day.

A Focus on Community Health and Resilient Food Systems
Jefferson Farm and Garden will host a drive-through pumpkin pick-up from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Research Center in Columbia. Individuals can donate to the Mammography Fund, as well as pick up a pumpkin and decoration package to take home. Alisha Moreland will host a virtual event through Facebook for everyone to decorate together if they are interested.
