Research Summary
My research broadly focuses on developing a better understanding of how beef and dairy cattle digest, metabolize and ultimately use different nutrients in support of growth or lactation. Recent efforts include work with small intestinal starch digestion, use of computer vision and AI to better estimate basal energy requirements, amino acid utilization, energy balance, corn processing and cover crops. Ultimately, the goal of this research is to simultaneously improve access to sustainably produced food products from cattle while increasing profitability for cattle producers.
