Plant Sciences Professor Named Director of Plant Transformation Core Facility
Bing Yang, professor of plant science and technology, has been named director of Mizzou’s Plant Transformation Core Facility. Yang will begin this new role July 1. The goal of the Plant Transformation Core (PTC) at the University of Missouri is to enhance both basic and applied research in plant biology by providing fee-based plant transformation services. Currently, much of the transformation activities of the facility are focused on maize and soybean.

MU Center for Agroforestry Hosts Education Events for Producers this Summer
This summer, the MU Center for Agroforestry will host three events aimed at helping those producing or interested in producing elderberry, nut trees and practicing agroforestry. Each event is designed to provide classroom and hands-on learning that will benefit both new and experienced growers. Comprehensive Elderberry Workshop and Orchard Tour Set for June 15-16 in Columbia, this workshop explores one of Missouri’s fastest-growing specialty crops — elderberry. What do you do in your current role with the University of Missouri? I am a field specialist in agricultural business based in Audrain County. There are many things to do every day, but the most important things are building and maintaining relationships with clients and co-workers.
