CAFNR Joy of Discovery Seed Grant Program Winners Announced

The first batch of proposals funded by CAFNR's Joy of Discovery Seed Grant Program has been announced. The Joy of Discovery Seed Grant Program supports nascent, collaborative, multi transdisciplinary research with the goal of developing a competitive proposal for federal funding.

David Patterson Honored with the Missouri Livestock Symposium Achievement Award

The award recognizes livestock industry leaders for career achievements.
For several years, the Block and Bridle Club at the University of Missouri has held their own version of the American Royal – the Little American Royal. The Little American Royal is a student-led livestock show that allows students of all backgrounds to experience the caring of a livestock animal, as well as preparing it for a show environment. Students compete in a live show at the end of the weeklong program.

Building Staying Power

Mobile meat processing training centers will address labor shortages within meat processing industry.
Each November, the University of Missouri Equine Teaching Facility, part of the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) Division of Animal Sciences, offers a select group of horses for sale. All of the proceeds from the sale benefit the MU Equine Program, as well as support student activities at the facility. In preparation for the sale, the program will offer a horse sale preview and silent auction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the facility (4400 E. New Haven Road) in Columbia, Mo.
