Pat Market, director of the School of Natural Resources in Mizzou’s College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, received the National Weather Association’s Dr. T. Theodore Fujita Research Achievement Award in August.

The award recognized Market and co-awardee Scott Rochette of SUNY-Brockport for their influence on the operational meteorology community through research and innovation.

The National Weather Association presented Market and Rochette with plaques at the organization’s annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska, on Oct. 19. The plaques read, “For exceptional career contributions to the operational meteorology community, significantly enhancing the reputations of meteorology programs at the University of Missouri and SUNY Brockport, respectively.”

Market has been director of the School of Natural Resources since 2020 and a professor of atmospheric science at MU since 1999. His research focuses on synoptic and mesoscale dynamics, with an interest in winter weather, heavy rainfall, flash flooding and severe local storms.
