Harvey S. James, Jr., Ph.D., is Professor of Agricultural and Applied Economics in the Division of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Missouri. James’s research focuses on applied ethics and the economic foundations of trust, happiness, and ethical behavior. He is currently conducting research on how the structure of agricultural networks affects perceptions of fairness and how cognitive biases contribute to problems of foodborne illness outbreaks. His edited book, Handbook on the Human Impact of Agriculture, which explores the effects of agriculture and the agrifood system on farmers and non-farmers, was published in 2021. Bryan L. Garton

Bryan L. Garton is the senior associate dean and director of academic programs for the University of Missouri’s College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR). In this role, Garton provides leadership for the College’s teaching mission, including administration of degree programs, student success, international experiences, scholarships, along with career readiness and placement for over 3,000 students. Garton has served the College in a variety of roles since joining the faculty as an assistant professor of agricultural education in 1993. He served as assistant dean of academic programs and from 2002 to 2007 as chair of the agricultural education department.
