Plant Sciences

Drive solutions to challenges facing society today, including food security, the environment and human health. Explore your interests in basic science and field research and tap into your creative side. Choose an emphasis area:

  • Breeding, Biology & Biotechnology. Improve crop performance, climate tolerance and pest resistance using genetic engineering, molecular biology and traditional plant breeding.
  • Crop Management. Explore critical agronomic issues affecting plant production worldwide and identify solutions to address these challenges.
  • Horticultural Science & Design. Sustainably produce flowers, vegetables and ornamental plants to feed local communities and enhance the environment. Design new ways to present indoor plant displays or outdoor landscapes.

Study Abroad
CAFNR students traveled to Italy and Holland during spring break for study abroad opportunities. The Italy program is focused on food, agriculture and sustainability, while the Holland program has students learn about the largest cut flower producer and exporter in the world.
