Wesley Warren, principal investigator at Bond Life Sciences Center and Curators’ Professor of Genomics in the Division of Animal Sciences, the Department of Surgery and the Data Science and Informatics Institute, has been named a fellow of the Academy of Science of St. Louis. He is one of six scientists selected for the Fellows Award for Outstanding Achievement in Science, which honors individuals whose work has led to significant advances in science, engineering and technology.
Warren, pictured above, has spent more than 30 years advancing understanding of genome evolution and function. His research has produced influential discoveries that continue to shape the fields of genomics and comparative biology. His discoveries have received international attention, including coverage by major national media outlets.

In addition, the Bayer University Mentoring Program (B4U), a collaborative initiative involving David Braun, director of Mizzou’s Interdisciplinary Plant Group and professor of biological sciences and plant science and technology, will receive the 2026 Science Leadership Award. The program helps graduate students and postdoctoral researchers explore career paths beyond academia. Braun, pictured right, and four other leaders provided mentorship focused on industry-based opportunities.
Formed in 1856, the Academy of Science in St. Louis has been a leader in the advancement and integration of science and technology into contemporary society. The Academy seeks to expand scientific outreach, education, resource sharing and the recognition of scientific accomplishment. Academy partners include every scientific sector — academic, public, corporate and private — from a broad range of science, medicine, engineering and technology concerns.
The awards ceremony will be held April 8, 2026, at the Missouri Botanical Garden.
