What school did you transfer from?

I transferred from Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Missouri.

What was your transfer experience like? What made the process easier?

My transition from a junior college was very smooth, thanks to the friends and faculty at Mizzou. Before transferring, I made it a priority to build a strong network. I met with my advisor early, talked with friends about their experiences in different courses, and scheduled calls with faculty and young professionals to learn more about life at Mizzou. Taking those steps made the process much easier and helped me feel confident about my decision.

What do you study at Mizzou?

I’m majoring in general agriculture with emphasis areas in agricultural business, agricultural communications, and international agriculture, and I’m also pursuing a minor in journalism.

Are there programs or activities at Mizzou that weren’t offered at your previous school?

Yes! While I really valued the close-knit community at MACC, Mizzou offers so many new opportunities to get involved. This semester, I joined Sigma Alpha, Collegiate Farm Bureau, and NAMA, and I plan to study abroad before I graduate. CAFNR is full of ways to explore new interests, and I’m very thankful I chose to transfer.

Lastly, what advice would you give to students that are making the transfer change?

Don’t wait for opportunities to come to you, go after them. Transferring can seem intimidating at first, but everyone has been the “new person” at some point. The transfer experience is what you make of it, and Mizzou offers endless ways to get involved. Start small, stay curious, and be willing to try new things.
