Q&A With Katie Barthel

Barthel is the coordinator of student services in CAFNR Academic Programs

What are your job duties/job responsibilities in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources?

I work in the Office of Academic Programs as one of the Coordinators of Student Services. In my role, I coordinate CAFNR new student welcomes, conduct academic outreach, meet with exploring students and more.

How long have you worked in CAFNR?

I have been working in CAFNR for about 3 months, having previously advised students in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. I am excited to continue to work with NEP students, although in a different capacity.

What do you enjoy about working for CAFNR/Mizzou?

The working environment is so supportive and team oriented. I never feel like I do not have someone to reach out to for help. I also enjoy the one-and-only Buck’s Ice Cream.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love exploring Columbia’s hiking trails, coffee shops, and attending festivals. Speaking of festivals, I am hoping to attend the Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival for the first time this year.

What is something your co-workers/other CAFNR employees don’t know about you?

I majored in music in college! I play the flute, and at one point considered a career in music education.
