Q&A With Kathleen Matz

Matz is the recruitment and event specialist in CAFNR Academic Programs

What are your job duties/job responsibilities in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources?

I am the Recruitment Specialist and Events Coordinator for CAFNR. This means I help with meeting prospective students both on and off campus, scheduling and planning recruitment events such as High School Group Visit Days, attending college fairs, and helping create new ideas for recruitment events. I also help with any events that the Academic Programs Office puts on. This includes Fall Welcome, Fall Round-Up, the Career Fair, CAFNR Week, and many more.

How long have you worked in CAFNR?

I have officially worked for CAFNR for a little over a month! I started the first week of August.

What do you enjoy about working for CAFNR/Mizzou?

While I have only been here for a short time, I have really enjoyed how much of a “family” the Office of Academic Programs has been! Even on my first day I could tell how lucky I was to get to be a part of this tightknit group. On top of that, all of the CAFNR faculty and staff has been incredibly welcoming and helpful. I am so thankful for the opportunity to get to work for CAFNR. I have also really enjoyed getting to work with both current and prospective students, and am excited to start traveling, recruiting students.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends. I also really enjoy singing, dancing, and taking long walks outside.

What is something your co-workers/other CAFNR employees don’t know about you?

Something people probably don’t know about me, is that I can sing opera. While getting my undergrad here, I was majorly involved in opera workshop where I participated in the Opera Scenes Program every Fall and every Spring, I was a part of the Show-Me Opera.
