What do you do in your current role with the University of Missouri?
My focus is consulting with elevator firms to maintain compliance with USDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) guidelines for animal feed. I also work with area producers enrolled in the Show-Me-Select (SMS) Replacement Heifer Program and Northeast Missouri Beef Cattle Improvement Association (NEMO BCIA) Performance Tested Bull Program. I also educate youth on animal health and production topics. Lastly, I work with farmers and ranchers participating in the Missouri AgrAbility Program.
How long have you worked in this position?
I have worked for the University of Missouri Extension for seven years.
What is your favorite part about the work you do?
No matter the program or event, I like teaching and helping people. I like knowing that small elevators can keep their doors open and provide economic value to their communities. I enjoy knowing that disabled farmers and ranchers can safely return to working independently on their farms through my work with the Missouri AgrAbility Program. By promoting the SMS heifer and bull programs, I am not only educating current livestock producers but future generations as well.

I’m helping MU Extension reach our #2xAg2030 goal by providing research-based resources to agricultural firms and producers. This creates a positive impact and promotes overall financial sustainability.
What is something your CAFNR and MU Extension teammates may not know about you?
Growing up I was raised on a dairy and beef cattle farm in Bates County.
Also, I was a Missouri State FFA vice president.
