Henry Nguyen, professor of plant science and technology, has been named to the Borlaug Training Foundation Board of Directors.
Nguyen’s research program focuses on molecular genetics, genomics and biotechnology. His long-standing research interest is abiotic stress adaptation and tolerance in plants with a current emphasis on soybean.
The Borlaug Training Foundation (BTF) is an independent, non-profit corporation, established to facilitate cutting-edge agronomic education and skills development under dynamic technological and climate-change scenarios for young scientists from low-and middle-income countries.
BTF was established in 2014 by friends, family and colleagues of Dr. Norman Borlaug, to continue his vision of training agricultural scientists to be “hunger fighters.” The Foundation supports the long-term, hands-on, field training that Dr. Borlaug practiced and tirelessly advocated for throughout his life.
Board Members are limited to two, three-year terms but may remain active in service to the Foundation as an Advocate.
