Fourth annual CAFNR Research Symposium poster winners announced
The fourth annual CAFNR Research Symposium was held Tuesday, Oct. 1, and included a poster session. Undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdocs contributed posters to the session. In total, 89 posters were exhibited.

Biochemistry and School of Natural Resources advisors selected for UM System Advisor Development program for the 2024-25 school year
Alison Rutledge, senior academic advisor in biochemistry, and Jenna Fusinatto, senior student services coordinator in the School of Natural Resources, were selected to participate in the 6th annual cohort of the University of Missouri System Advisor Development Program (ADP).

CAFNR students win Award for Academic Distinction
This honor was established in 2014 by a group of students to celebrate fellow Tigers who have gone above and beyond expectations. It is one of the highest honors MU offers based on academic distinction alone.

Eric Aldrich awarded Maxine Christopher Shutz Award & Lecture for Distinguished Teaching
Eric Aldrich, assistant teaching professor, School of Natural Resources, has been awarded the Maxine Christopher Shutz Award & Lecture for Distinguished Teaching as part of the 2024 Faculty Excellence Week. As a result of the generosity of the late Byron T. and Maxine Christopher Shutz, an endowment was established in 1982 to recognize distinguished teachers from the Columbia campus. The award will be presented to a faculty member who has demonstrated extra efforts to involve undergraduates in active learning experiences and to personalize the undergraduate experience of students.

2024 CAFNR Joy of Discovery Seed Grant Program Winners Announced
The third batch of proposals funded by CAFNR’s Joy of Discovery Seed Grant Program has been announced. The Joy of Discovery Seed Grant Program supports nascent, collaborative, multi transdisciplinary research with the goal of developing a competitive proposal for federal funding. SNR faculty named Conservation Federation Missouri Forest Conservationist of the Year
Hank Stelzer, associate professor of forestry and natural resources extension education director, was announced as Forest Conservationist of the Year by the Conservation Federation Missouri. The honor is part of the organization’s 2023 Conservation Achievement Awards, which recognize Missourians who better the outdoors through personal efforts. Stelzer will be recognized at Conservation Federation Missouri’s 88th Annual Convention.
