Fourth annual CAFNR Research Symposium poster winners announced

The fourth annual CAFNR Research Symposium was held Tuesday, Oct. 1, and included a poster session. Undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdocs contributed posters to the session. In total, 89 posters were exhibited.

Secley Kennedy Honored with Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award

CAFNR Colleagues gather to celebrate Secley Kennedy. President Mun Choi and staff advisory council members present award to Secley Kennedy during Staff Recognition Week. This spring, Staff Advisory Council and CAFNR colleagues gathered in Buck’s Ice Cream Place to surprise Secley Kennedy with the news that she had received the 2024 Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award – Clerical/Office. Kennedy, FNES Director & Chair’s Assistant and FNES Division Coordinator, also serves as the CAFNR Staff Advisory Council Chair. 2024 Roger L. Mitchell Fellow Award to Jaume Padilla 

Jaume Padilla, associate professor, nutrition and exercise physiology, has received CAFNR’s 2024 Roger L. Mitchell Fellow Award as part of the College’s annual Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony.  Jaume Padilla The research of Padilla, who is also an investigator in NextGen Precision Health, focuses on the nexus of cardiovascular disease, physical inactivity, obesity and type 2 diabetes, incorporating diverse methodologies from in vitro tissue culture to clinical studies.    His achievements include more than 175 peer-reviewed publications, more than $11 million in external funding, invited talks both nationally and internationally, and prestigious awards such as the 2023 Impact Award from the…

Jaume Padilla, associate professor, nutrition and exercise physiology, has received CAFNR’s 2024 Outstanding Mid-Career Research Award as part of the College’s annual Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony.  Jaume Padilla Joining the University of Missouri in 2009 as a postdoctoral fellow, he become an associate professor with tenure in 2019.
