Mizzou SAIFD Named Outstanding Student Organization at 2019 Celebration of Excellence

The Mizzou Student Chapter of the American Institute of Floral Designers (Mizzou SAIFD) was named Outstanding Student Organization at CAFNR’s 2019 Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony, held Thursday, April 11.

The University of Missouri Student Chapter of the American Institute of Floral Designers (Mizzou SAIFD) is an organization that works to prepare those wanting to pursue a career or interest in the floral design industry. Through special projects, demonstrations, club meetings, seminars, different interactions with industry leaders and professionals at state and local competitions, as well as the National AIFD Symposium, Mizzou SAIFD works to help educate its members and those around them. Along with community service events and leadership within the club and its members, SAIFD presents opportunities for growth and education within the floral design industry and works to help create the future generations of floral designers. Within Mizzou SAIFD, an officer team and an adviser serve as the governing body over the chapter. The officer team is comprised of members of various majors, grades, backgrounds and skill levels.

“The University of Missouri Student Chapter of the American Institute of Floral Designers (SAIFD) members are a very well-rounded group of individuals, who are passionate about the floral industry,” said Mizzou SAIFD Advisor Lesleighan Cravens. “Founded in 2013, members have strived to grow and flourish this organization from day one. The student members work extremely hard to not only educate and promote the floral business but also learn professional and technical skills needed to be successful in this ever-changing industry. In order to maximize their personal growth and development of the organization, the SAIFD members developed three pillars of the organization: public outreach, education and networking.”
