
The Mizzou Meat Judging team rounded out their spring semester judging at the Southeastern Intercollegiate Meats Judging contest, where they received 3rd place overall. This unique contest is hosted over a two-day period. The first day, held at The Ohio State University, consists of beef judging, beef grading, and beef reasons writing. The second day, held at the University of Kentucky, consists of pork judging, lamb judging, specifications, and reasons writing. The team had a phenomenal show bringing home many individual and team awards, finishing in the top five in seven of the eight judging categories.

The team will take a summer break and start back again in the fall judging at the remaining three intercollegiate meats judging contests. The team is coached by Teagan Schnurbusch, Assistant Extension Professor & State Extension Specialist in Meat Science.
