Harleigh Lewis received Outstanding Sophomore Award as part of 2024 Celebration of Excellence 

Lewis is an agricultural education major.




Harleigh Lewis, an agricultural education major, was named Outstanding Sophomore at CAFNR’s 2024 Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony, held Tuesday, April 16.

Lewis, who is also completing a minor in plant sciences and a certificate in Applied Child and Youth Development, has taken on numerous leadership roles in CAFNR and on campus at large. She is an active member of the Mizzou Agricultural Education Society, is an Agricultural Education, Leadership and Communication Ambassador, and was a Litton Leadership Scholar. Lewis also serves as a member of Mizzou Tour Team and will be a Summer Welcome Leader in the summer of 2024.  

Lewis works on campus with Sponsored Programs Administration and has previously held internships as an Agricultural Education on the Move Educator and University of Missouri Extension intern in Chariton County.  

Lewis is also involved in intramural sports on campus and studied abroad in New Zealand through CAFNR.   

“Harleigh is a student with a high level of maturity and has a desire to continually improve,” said Jon Simonsen, associate professor and chair of Agricultural Education and Leadership. “Her level of focus and caring attitude are demonstrated through her coursework, campus activities, and work. Harleigh is a student that represents the Agricultural Education and Leadership program very well and displays the characteristics on which CAFNR prides itself.”
