Cindy Greenwood, program/project support coordinator II in the School of Natural Resources, received the 2025 Mumford Award for Outstanding Staff at CAFNR’s Celebration of Excellence April 17.

Greenwood is the building coordinator for ABNR and safety coordinator for SNR; handles event planning such as a lunch and learn series for new faculty to share their research and for staff from across Mizzou to share important information to assist in a variety of roles (in addition to special events like a traveling climate change exhibit hosted in ABNR); plays a central role in the SNR faculty hiring process, coordinating interviews, tours, dinners and presentations; and is the first person staff and faculty turn to with questions or concerns in SNR, say nominators. She balances professionalism with a sense of humor, creating a positive, collaborative atmosphere.

“What truly sets Cindy apart is her leadership,” said nominator Kathryn Leeper, SNR academic advisor. “She is tough but fair, holding herself and others to high standards, always ensuring the office runs efficiently and smoothly and at the same time creating an environment where everyone can thrive.”

“She always goes the extra mile to welcome new faculty and staff, making sure they are settled in and have everything they need to hit the ground running and anticipating their needs,” said Victoria Bryan, program/project support coordinator II in the Division of Plant Science and Technology.

Greenwood led the CAFNR Staff Council through the challenging years of 2020-21, bringing subject-matter expertise to the college in mental health, wellness and professional skills training, resulting in a marked increase in attendance at these sessions.

“At times when we may have felt acutely disconnected, fragile or vulnerable, Cindy sensed that need and gave us tools to make us more resilient moving forward,” said Amy Moum, program/project support coordinator II in the Division of Applied Social Sciences. “Cindy shows up for CAFNR staff every day.”
