MU Collegiate Livestock Judging Team sees success at several fall contests

The MU Collegiate Livestock Judging team, including Allison Eitel, senior in agriculture; Brady Schnelten, senior in animal sciences; Grant Stafford, senior in agriculture; Shane Vehige, senior in animal sciences; Addie Thessen, senior in plant sciences; and Jenna Blessing, senior in agriculture, have had a very successful fall season.

MU Collegiate Soil Judging Team places third at Soil Science Society of America Region V Contest

The MU Collegiate Soil Judging Team won third place overall and third place for team judging in the Soil Science Society of America Region V soil judging contest. This placement qualifies them for the national contest in Ames, Iowa, April 22-26, 2024. The team includes environmental science majors Victoria Marshall, Kali Dolson, Isaac Reinwald, Alex Kalisz and India Williams.

The University of Missouri Torq'N Tigers had two teams compete in the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) International Quarter-Scale Tractor Student Design Competition this month, with one being named Performance Event Winner.

Four CAFNR Students Earn Recognition at Mizzou Show-Me Research Week

Nearly 500 University of Missouri students and postdoctoral fellows presented their research and creativity activity during the inaugural Show Me Research Week April 17-21. The week, which celebrated MU students as creators, innovators, problem solvers and thinkers, culminated with an Award and Recognition Ceremony held at the Bond Life Sciences Center. Sigma Alpha Received Outstanding Student Club Award as Part of 2023 Celebration of Excellence 

Sigma Alpha, Mizzou’s professional agricultural sorority, was named Outstanding Student Organization at 2023 Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony, held Tuesday, April 11.   With four founding pillars – scholarship, leadership, fellowship and service – Sigma Alpha is focused on furthering the development of women pursuing careers in agriculture. The organization highlights each of those pillars in different ways.   For scholarship, Sigma Alpha hosts study hours each semester, where older chapter members offer help to younger members.
