Three new members were inducted into the CAFNR Teaching Academy as part of the college’s Celebration of Excellence event April 19. Membership in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Teaching Academy will be reserved for CAFNR faculty who have received a distinguished teaching award on a national, regional, or university level that crosses disciplines.
The inductees are:
- Alba Argerich, assistant professor in the School of Natural Resources
- Mary Hendrickson, associate professor in the Division of Applied Social Sciences
- John Tummons, assistant teaching professor in the Division of Applied Social Sciences
Argerich is the recipient of the 2021 Provost’s Outstanding Junior Faculty Teaching Award. This award recognizes junior faculty for superior teaching and advising on the MU campus.
Hendrickson received the Excellence in Instruction Award from the Agriculture, Food and Human Value Society in 2021. This award honors a member for outstanding teaching related to agriculture, food, and human values at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Tummons received the USDA Food and Agriculture Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award in the fall of 2019. He is the seventh CAFNR professor to receive a national USDA teaching award.
At the Celebration of Excellence Ceremony, Argerich, Hendrickson and Tummons were presented with the CAFNR Teaching Academy medallion to wear at graduation ceremonies.
