Research Summary

Jim's research interests include personal finance by investigating factors influencing financial behaviors, developing effective financial education interventions and assessing their impact on individuals’ financial well-being. He is also interested in the design and evaluation of financial education programs and interventions, particularly those delivered through university-based student money management centers.

Green is an Associate Professor of Personal Financial Planning in the Division of Applied Social Sciences of the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources at the University of Missouri – Columbia. He is a native of Florida but comes to the University of Missouri from San Antonio, TX where he spent the nine years as a financial planning and portfolio manager with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. Additionally, for the three years, he was an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the H-E-B School of Business Administration, University of the Incarnate Word.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and served as an officer for twenty-four years in various flying positions including combat duty in Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He earned a Master of Business Administration – Finance from Louisiana Tech University and a certificate in Financial Planning from Florida State University. Green holds a Doctor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, TX.

Jim is married and has five children, two daughters and three sons. He enjoys most collegiate sports, weightlifting and scouting with Boy Scouts of America.
