Get to Know Jaelyn Peckman

Peckman is an Agricultural Science Communications instructor

What are your job duties/job responsibilities in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources?

I teach undergraduate agricultural communications courses in CAFNR, and love every one of them! Specifically, I teach AgSc_Com 1160 Foundations of Agricultural Communications, AgSc_Com 2210 Communicating Science to the Public, AgSc_Com 2220 Verbal Communications in AFNR, and AgSc_Com 3240 Communicating on the Web. I also serve as an academic adviser for students within the Agricultural Education and Leadership program and implement recruitment efforts for our program.

How long have you worked in CAFNR?

A little over two years!

What do you enjoy about working for CAFNR/Mizzou?

My absolute favorite part about working in CAFNR is our students! They are so impressive and so much FUN to work with! Our students are eager to learn, gain new skills, and grow professionally. I always tell students that my classes are VERY discussion based because I want to hear their thoughts and ideas. I am always impressed with our students’ genuine desire to learn and work hard. Oftentimes, students will stop by my office for a few minutes between classes and I enjoy hearing what they are up to. The simple conversations are something I look forward to each day.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time you can find me taking walks with my husband and little girl, spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, or watching (and re-watching) Grey’s Anatomy.

What is something your co-workers/other CAFNR employees don’t know about you?

My biggest fear is going to the dentist. Like, I really dislike the dentist. When it’s time for my six month checkup and I see “dentist appointment” on my calendar, my heart starts racing and my blood pressure elevates.
