Rob Myers, director of the CAFNR Center for Regenerative Agriculture and extension professor in the Division of Plant Science & Technology, has been named the recipient of the 2026 Roger L. Mitchell Fellow Award in recognition of his national leadership in regenerative agriculture, cover crops and soil health. Myers was honored at the Celebration of Excellence awards ceremony April 23.

Myers is widely regarded as one of the country’s foremost experts on conservation agriculture. Over his career, he has aided farmer adoption of cover crops and regenerative practices while shaping national policy and research priorities related to soil health and sustainable agriculture. He has served on numerous national commissions and advisory panels and is a Fellow of both the American Society of Agronomy and the Soil and Water Conservation Society.

Myers has secured some of the largest and most impactful grants in CAFNR history, achieved notable extension impact, and conceived the award-winning documentary Living Soil, which has reached millions of viewers worldwide.

“Dr. Myers exemplifies the land‑grant mission through his integrated research, extension and service,” said nominator Heike Buecking, director, Division of Plant Science and Technology. “His leadership has had lasting benefits for agriculture and rural communities.”

Myers’ sustained impact, vision and commitment to regenerative agriculture make him a highly deserving recipient of the Roger L. Mitchell Fellow Award, named for a former dean and recognizing those who elevate the college through collaboration and innovative thinking.
