What do you do in your current role with the University of Missouri?

In my role, I work with farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses as they start and expand their direct marketing efforts. I also develop Extension resources and programming around direct marketing, target customer development and other marketing-related topics. On top of all that, I assist my colleagues in the Agricultural Business and Policy group with strategic marketing and media relations efforts (and aid FAPRI with similar work).

How long have you worked in this position?

I have been in this position for roughly one year but will celebrate three years with Mizzou in May.

What is your favorite part about the work you do?

My favorite part about my work is seeing the “lightbulb” moment during programming or one-on-one work with farmers… to see them take a concept or resource and understand how it can benefit their operation or business. I truly enjoy seeing the passion and determination Missouri’s producers have for their operations, and I feel fortunate that I can connect with them and funnel that passion into strategy for long-term success.

How are you helping MU A&E Extension reach our #2xAg2030 goal?

I am helping MU A&E Extension reach its #2xAg2030 goal by helping producers capture more value from their products. Through targeted education and resource development, as well as strategic marketing support, I am helping Missouri producers capitalize on new market avenues and increase profitability.

What is something your CAFNR and MU Extension teammates may not know about you?

I have three fun facts… I am a classically trained pianist, I am a distance runner (half marathons are my jam) and am an avid upland bird and waterfowl hunter. My office contains many feathers, bird decoys and other natural elements to bring the outdoors inside!

What is your hometown, place of high school graduation, and degrees/universities?

I grew up in Eagleville, Missouri, and graduated from North Harrison R-III (Harrison County). I received a BS in Agricultural Journalism from Mizzou and an MS in Agricultural Communication from Texas Tech University, where my thesis work revolved around science communication.
