Schreck is a county engagement specialist in livestock with the Agriculture and Environment Extension Program

What do you do in your current role with the University of Missouri?

Brenda Schreck at work.
Brenda Schreck, county engagement specialist in livestock with the Agriculture and Environment Extension Program, works with the Show-Me Select Heifer Replacement Program. She also works with the Missouri AgrAbility Project.

My focus is consulting with elevator firms to maintain compliance with USDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) guidelines for animal feed. I also work with area producers enrolled in the Show-Me-Select (SMS) Replacement Heifer Program and Northeast Missouri Beef Cattle Improvement Association (NEMO BCIA) Performance Tested Bull Program. I also educate youth on animal health and production topics. Lastly, I work with farmers and ranchers participating in the Missouri AgrAbility Program.

How long have you worked in this position?

I have worked for the University of Missouri Extension for seven years.

Brenda Schreck during her time as FFA state vice president.
In high school, Brenda Schreck was state vice president of FFA.

What is your favorite part about the work you do?

No matter the program or event, I like teaching and helping people. I like knowing that small elevators can keep their doors open and provide economic value to their communities. I enjoy knowing that disabled farmers and ranchers can safely return to working independently on their farms through my work with the Missouri AgrAbility Program. By promoting the SMS heifer and bull programs, I am not only educating current livestock producers but future generations as well.
