Among 28 teams from across the country, the University of Missouri placed second in the American Society of Agronomy’s National Championship for Collegiate Soil Judging. India Williams, a senior in Mizzou’s School of Natural Resources (SNR), also placed second as an individual.
The competition took place at North Carolina State University from March 22-27. It focuses on field-based soil morphology, classification and land-use interpretation. Mizzou’s results qualify both Williams and the team’s coach to compete at the International Soil Judging Contest in Nanjing, China, June 2-6.

Kerry Clark, an SNR associate research professor, and Joey Meinert, an SNR instructor, coach the Mizzou team, which is composed of 25 CAFNR students. Meinert will be the coach representing Mizzou in China.
The team is actively recruiting new members. Contact Kerry Clark, clarkk@missouri.edu, or Joey Meinert, jm3zq@missouri.edu, for more information.
