Anthony Lupo, professor of atmospheric science, has been appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Science Advisory Board. Selected by Administrator Lee Zeldin, Lupo joins a group of 36 experts providing scientific counsel to help guide federal environmental policy.

A Mizzou faculty member since 1997 and a Fellow of both the Royal and American Meteorological Societies, Lupo is a recognized expert in climate dynamics and meteorology. He has been a Fulbright Scholar to Russia, studying atmospheric blocking in 2004, and teaching and research in 2014-15 and 2017. He has received teaching and advising awards including CAFNR’s Senior Teaching Award (2006) and Outstanding Undergraduate Advisor Award (April 2008), and the MU Kemper Foundation Award for Excellence in Teaching (2008). He was chosen as the SEC Professor of the Year candidate in 2020 for Mizzou.

“It is a privilege to contribute to the rigorous evaluation of science that informs our nation’s environmental policies,” Lupo said. “I look forward to ensuring the EPA has access to high-quality data to fulfill its mission.”
