Three faculty members from across the University of Missouri were recently awarded the Millsap Distinguished Professorship, established by a Mizzou alumnus, teacher and philanthropist. The professorship is awarded for a five-year term to recognize outstanding contributions by faculty.
One of the recipients is Jacqueline Limberg, associate professor, Division of Food, Nutrition & Exercise Sciences. Limberg’s research looks at mechanisms that contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease and interventions that can reverse and/or prevent cardiovascular disease risk. She was also recently recognized with the 2025 Research Mentor of the Year Award from Mizzou’s Office of Undergraduate Research.
The Millsap professorships are supported by the Marvin and Rose Millsap Trust. Marvin Millsap served as superintendent of Hallsville schools in 1925-26 while he attended University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. After graduating in 1927, he attended Mizzou and received a master of arts in education in 1928. Millsap was a Jefferson Club member since 1986 and was awarded an honorary doctorate of letters from Mizzou in 1987. The endowment was created from a trust upon Rose’s death in 1979. Marvin died in 1994 at age 91.
