What are your job duties/job responsibilities in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources?
I am the student success communicator for CAFNR Communications. A big part of my job includes writing about and documenting standout CAFNR students. I interview students to highlight their experience in CAFNR, and I often take pictures and video of student involvement in various clubs and organizations for our website and social media. I also work closely with CAFNR faculty and staff to get input on students to feature. My inbox is always open to student story ideas!
How long have you worked in CAFNR?
I have worked in CAFNR for just about two months but have been at Mizzou for close to seven years. I previously worked at KOMU as the weekday morning anchor for three-and-a-half years. I graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in 2023 and worked as a student at KOMU throughout my four years of undergrad.
What do you enjoy about working for CAFNR/Mizzou?
I love to be a part of highlighting the student experience at Mizzou. As an alumna, I have so much love for this community. I’m so grateful I get to come to work every day and share that passion with a broader audience. Since I don’t have an academic background in CAFNR, it has been so rewarding to learn about the wide variety of student experiences across each degree program in the college. I really enjoy learning new things and absolutely love that my job allows me to do that every single day.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I really like to exercise, whether it’s lifting weights at the gym or jogging around my neighborhood. I also spend most of my time with my dog, Duke, my boyfriend and my friends.
What is something your co-workers/other CAFNR employees don’t know about you?
I am Hispanic! My mom’s side of the family is from Mexico, and that culture played a big role in my childhood. The food, songs and other traditions have always been an important part of my life. I also grew up competitively dancing, so hitting the splits is my party trick!
