University of Missouri Extension agriculture business specialist Amie Breshears was recently named Conservation Educator of the Year by the Soil and Water Conservation Society.

Based in Benton County, she has served MU Extension for six years and currently works across eight counties in the northern half of the West Central Region. Her work includes agricultural leasing and land values education, instruction at grazing schools, involvement with the Value Added Meats Team and coordination of Annie’s Project in Missouri. She also serves as a Progressive Ag Safety Foundation Ag Safety Day coordinator.

Amie’s conservation impact extends beyond Extension through service as secretary of the Benton County Soil and Water Conservation District Board, along with leadership roles on the Warsaw School Board, Benton County Health Department and State Fair Community College Board of Trustees. She has also been actively involved in Women in Agriculture programming.

The award holds personal significance, as she grew up in Benton County and participated in Soil and Water Conservation District poster contests as a child. “I’m proud to accept this award on behalf of all conservation educators working to strengthen Missouri agriculture,” she said. “It’s meaningful to come full circle and now help steward the natural resources that shaped me growing up.”
