Craig Paukert Wins Fisheries Excellence Award from North Central Division of the American Fisheries Society
Craig Paukert, cooperative professor in fisheries and wildlife, received the Fisheries Excellence Award through the North Central Division of the American Fisheries Society. This award is given to a North Central member who has made outstanding contributions to the fisheries profession. This contribution may be a single activity or a collection of achievements over the individual’s career.

Eduardo Beche Receives Foundation for Soy Innovation Scholarship
Eduardo Beche, research scientist in Plant Science & Technology, was selected to receive the 2021 Soy Innovation Scholarship through the Foundation for Soy Innovation. The scholarship will help fund the recipients’ education and research. Beche’s research centers on yield and adaptability of soybean traits. Beche plans to use the $1,000 scholarship to attend the World Soybean Research Conference 11 in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Katie Harris Wins 2022 Katherine S. McCarter Graduate Student Policy Award
Katie Harris, PhD student in the Division of Plant Science and Technology, was selected for the 2022 Katherine S. McCarter Graduate Student Policy Award (GSPA) through the Ecological Society of America (ESA) This award provides graduate students with the opportunity to participate in a virtual Congressional Visits Day. These students learn about the legislative process and federal science funding before meeting virtually with their members of Congress to discuss the importance of federal investments in the biological and ecological sciences. GSPA recipients will also explore policy career options.

Thomas Bonnot Receives the United States Forest Service Chiefs Award
Thomas Bonnot, assistant research professor in the School of Natural Resources, received the United States Forest Service Chiefs Award in 2021. Bonnot is a member of a team being recognized for his work on Brown-Headed Nuthatch Reintroduction. In addition, the team made the list in the BBC’s wildlife magazine of the top 50 reasons to be cheerful in 2021.

Rebecca North, assistant professor in the School of Natural Resources, has been named as a fellow with the Association for the Science of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO). Dain Jacobs Receives the American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship
Dain Jacob, doctoral student in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, has received the prestigious American Heart Associate (AHA) Predoctoral Fellowship. The purpose of this fellowship is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising students who are in a predoctoral or clinical health professional degree training program. Jacob is a doctoral student in the Limberg lab.
