Atmospheric Science ’93 and Chief Administrative Officer of the U.S. Census Bureau, encourages CAFNR students to step outside their comfort zone. Serving as a forecaster in both tropical Hawaii and arctic Alaska, Furgione learned how to serve communities through science. Personal Financial Planning students got to network with potential future employers during their Industry Advisory Board Day on March 14 in Memorial Union. Alumni of the program engaged in roundtable and panel discussions with the students about their goals, future plans, and advice on entering the industry. Zach Leasor, assistant professor in the School of Natural Resources, presented at the Missouri Soybean Association’s Cover Crop Field Day in March. His presentation focused on weather outlook and how that would impact both planting and growing seasons. Abner Womack, professor emeritus of agricultural economics, speaks at the Tenth Annual Womack Missouri Ag Outlook Conference. Genevieve Howard, CAFNR web and social media strategist, led a spring refresh on April 5, as part of CAFNR Staff Council’s lunch and learn. The William A. Albrecht Lecture was held on April 9, 2024 in the Bond Life Sciences Center. Suzanne Simard discussed her book, New York Times bestseller, “Finding the Mother Tree: Discovering the Wisdom of the Forest.” A groundbreaking was held for the new Roy Blunt Soil Testing Laboratory at the Fisher Delta Research, Extension and Education Center in Portageville.
