Q: Why did you choose to come to the University of Missouri?
A: I chose the University of Missouri because a lot of my family members attended the university and it’s also a manageable distance from my hometown of Memphis, Missouri. Also growing up going to Columbia and Mizzou events, I knew Mizzou was Missouri’s premier university for me to be able to pursue whatever I wanted. I was also interested in Greek Life and had a great experience in Kappa Alpha Theta.
Q: Why did you choose to pursue your major?
A: I pursued this degree because when I was touring the university my older sister told me about Hospitality Management (HM). I knew it was perfect for me because I have always loved putting on events and helping my family members and organizations with the events that they are putting on.
Q: Did you partake in any research, study abroad or internship opportunities? What did you enjoy about those experiences?
A: I was able to intern with Habitat for Humanity for the Blitz Build. I volunteered with another HM major and we got to secure sponsorships for the Blitz Build in Columbia!
Q: What is a favorite memory you have during your time in CAFNR?
A: My favorite memory of my time in CAFNR was being able to have the opportunity to go to San Antonio to volunteer at the Men’s Final Four with two of my very good friends who are also in CAFNR.
Q: How did your degree program prepare you for the future?
A: CAFNR and the HM program provided so many chances to explore all types of careers in HM, from floral design to hotel and restaurant tours and internship opportunities.
Q: What are your future plans?
A: I will be in my hometown for a bit to get established and then possibly moving to Kirksville to continue my career in Hospitality Management!
