Annabelle Carlisle, an agricultural education, teaching certification major, was named Outstanding Freshman at CAFNR’s 2025 Celebration of Excellence, held Thursday, April 17.

Carlisle is an active member of the National FFA Organization, where she currently serves as Missouri FFA State Vice President. This experience has given her opportunities to work with youth throughout the state as they develop in leadership and in the agricultural industry. She also works with Southeast Kids in Action as a paraprofessional, helping mobility instructors lead sight-impaired students in physical activity.

Since coming to Mizzou, Carlisle has become a student ambassador for Mizzou TRiO Student Support Services, providing guidance and resources to help ensure the success of fellow Mizzou students. Carlisle is also a member of the Agricultural Education Society.

“As a student, Annabelle is funny, bright, respectful and full of joy,” said John Tummons, director of undergraduate studies and professor of Agricultural Education and Leadership. “I love teaching Annabelle in class because I know she will bring a smile to the classroom and make her fellow students feel valued. She is curious and driven, but she never goes alone or acts in selfish interest. She is a great leader because she makes everyone around her want to be better.”
