Congratulations on being admitted to the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR)! As a future Tiger, we want you to get a glimpse of what you can experience in the environmental sciences degree program. All CAFNR undergraduate students take part in a “signature experience” during their time on campus. This is denoted as the “RISE” Initiative: Research, International, Service learning, Experiential learning.

For example, Kesley Kobielusz was not only a member of Marching Mizzou, the marching band for the University of Missouri, she also gained hands-on learning experiences at KOMU-TV as a broadcast meteorologist.

Soils labs in the School of Natural Resources have been upgraded to prepare students to work in the lab and in the field.

CAFNR Has a Lot to Offer

Each of the 14 degree programs in CAFNR impact the largest industries in the region and address the most significant challenges in our world today, including agricultural policy and economics; tourism and hospitality; food nutrition, production, processing and safety; environmental sustainability; and animal and human health.

• Graduation rate is 17% higher than state and national averages
• 98.8% of graduates are employed full-time or enrolled in graduate school

A degree from CAFNR impacts your future and career, as well as the core components of society — helping to feed the world and keep it healthy. This past Senior Spotlight features Libby Orr, a recent graduate of the environmental sciences degree program, as she shares her favorite experiences as a CAFNR student and how the College prepared her for the future.

Build leadership skills and friendships in more than 40 CAFNR-specific clubs and organizations. Each program has activities tailored to its students, in addition to many College-wide opportunities. Getting involved is a great way to expand on classroom learning, meet others with similar interests — and have some fun along the way!

The MU Collegiate Soil Judging Team won third place overall and third place for team judging in the Soil Science Society of America Region V soil judging contest. This placement qualifies them for the national contest in Ames, Iowa, April 22-26, 2024.
