Welcome to the spring semester! I hope all of you had a restorative and restful winter break. As we start this new term, I’m excited to see how our students will grow and learn. Since the break, I have participated in meetings and events with stakeholders, fellow Mizzou administrators, and alumni and friends of the college: - Missouri Beef Industry Council meeting/Missouri Cattle Industry Convention
- Farewell reception for Dr. Marshall Stewart
- Lunches and breakfast with alumni and friends
- Board meeting for the Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City
- Council of Deans meeting
- 21st annual Boone County Legislative Forum
- Deans Retreat hosted by Provost Ramchand
Still coming up this month, I will attend the Missouri Innovation Center board meeting and meet with our CAFNR greater leadership team for our spring meeting. As part of the response to the social media investigation undertaken by Mizzou this past month, I want to echo President Choi’s message from earlier in January that our university community will not be defined by the actions of one individual, but instead by our commitment to be welcoming to all. This pledge is one of our priority pillars too – “Cultivating a Diverse and Inclusive Community.” I encourage you to join me in this call and attend the Mizzou event celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Wednesday at the Missouri State Historical Society (registration required) or via livestream. Let’s make it a great semester in CAFNR. CAFNR Proud, Christopher R. Daubert, Ph.D.
