Thomas Spencer has been named vice chancellor for research and economic development at the University of Missouri. Spencer is a Curators’ Distinguished Professor in both the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the School of Medicine’s Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health.

The Fisher Delta Research Center Field Day that was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 31, has been postponed. New date to be announced in the coming weeks.

Forage System Research Center Field Day Cancelled

The Forage System Research Center Field Day scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 14, has been cancelled. Over the next few months FSRC will be planning several workshops and virtual informational segments related to research being done at the Center. More information for these events to come.

Atmospheric Science Night at Jefferson Farm and Garden Rescheduled 

Science Night at Jefferson Farm and Garden has been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 2. A live broadcast from KOMU’s Kenton Gewecke will start the event at 5 p.m.

Become a Peer Review Panelist for the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA)

Science Night at Jefferson Farm and Garden: Vegetables, Butterflies and Flowers- Oh My was held Thursday, Aug. 19, at the Center. Guests enjoyed a tour of the butterfly house, Missouri Master Garden demonstration gardens and a cherry tomato tasting!

Pawan Basnet, a PhD candidate in the Division of Plant Science and Technology, received a Borlaug Scholarship and the Diversity Enhancement Award from the National Association of Plant Breeders.

Jamille Palacios Rivera Receives the CWAE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award 

Jamille Palacios Rivera, assistant teaching professor of agricultural and applied economics, received the CWAE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award through the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAWA). This award celebrates and recognizes individuals who have actively worked to advanced diversity, equity and inclusion in the applied economics profession and who have had a positive impact on students, colleagues and the culture of their department.
