Lee Greenley Jr. Memorial Research Farm to host event; Participants to learn about latest in agricultural research and real-world applications

The University of Missouri’s Northern Missouri Research, Extension and Education Center (NM-REEC) invites the public to its annual Field Day on Tuesday, Aug. 30, where attendees have the opportunity for an in-person look at research conducted at the REEC.

The event will take place at the Lee Greenley Jr. Memorial Research Farm just outside of Novelty, Missouri, and participants will learn about the latest in agricultural research with real-world applications.

“The field day is an opportunity for us to share the applied research being conducted on all of the farms within the northern REEC,” said NM-REEC Director Jeff Case. “Those in attendance will have the opportunity to interact with researchers, extension specialists and other professionals.”

University of Missouri’s T.E. “Jake” Fisher Delta Research, Extension and Education Center (FD-REEC) invites the public to its annual Field Day on Friday, Aug. 26, where farmers and other individuals have the opportunity for an in-person look at the latest research conducted at the REEC.

This year’s program consists of four field tours that begin at 9 a.m. and is completed with a complimentary lunch starting at noon.

Nominations open for CAFNR William R. Lamberson Distinguished Dissertation and MS Thesis Awards

The CAFNR William R. Lamberson Distinguished Dissertation and MS Thesis Awards were launched last year as part of CAFNR Strategic Plan Research Goal #1 — create a culture of research and innovation excellence. These awards recognize two graduate students and their advisors for the best doctoral dissertation and master’s thesis in CAFNR. The recipients will receive an honorarium of $1,000 and a plaque. The advisor will also receive a plaque. Nominations may be submitted to the CAFNR Office of Research and are due Sept. 15.

Kerry Clark to Receive ASA Emerging Leader Award

The American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) has announced that MU Crop Scientist Kerry Clark will receive the Emerging Leader for African Agricultural Transformation Award at the ASA Awards Ceremony in November during the scientific society’s Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.

Anthony Lupo Recognized by National Weather Association

Anthony Lupo received the 2022 Special Appreciation Award from the National Weather Association (NWA) for accomplishments in meteorological research with implications for sub-seasonal to seasonal forecasting, and for his continued support of his student’s involvement in the NWA.
