What a wonderful spring this has been. In April, we honored our amazing students, alumni, faculty and staff at CAFNR’s Celebration of Excellence, and I attended my first Monticello Society Brunch. In May we held the very first combined CAFNR and SNR commencement ceremony. Commencement speaker Johnny Morris inspired over 600 graduates and gave them all a Bass Pro gift bag. One lucky student even won a bass boat! It was a great evening of hope and promise for our outstanding graduates.
We are well into the second phase of the college’s strategic planning process. A heartfelt thanks to all who have contributed thus far. To keep up to date on the progress and to submit your big ideas, please visit the website.
Our Agricultural Education and Leadership program celebrates its 100th anniversary this year with many activities scheduled for Saturday, September 15. In 2020, CAFNR marks its 150th anniversary. We are already starting to plan that celebration as well. If you are interested in helping with our sesquicentennial planning, please let me know.
Mark your calendars for the CAFNR Alumni Association’s Tiger Ag Classic Golf Tournament and Steak Fry scheduled for Friday, September 14, at the Lake of the Woods Golf Course.
Please enjoy this issue of Gratitude highlighting the Monticello Society Brunch, Our Time to Lead capital campaign and Mizzou Giving Day updates. Also included is a feature story on recent alumnus Brandon Thiel, and our latest Reich Executive-in-Residence, Sarah Geisert, who inspired students to take a global view on careers in food and agriculture.
Thank you for all you do for this great college. I wish all of you a fun and safe summer.
CAFNR Proud!
