Honoring diversity championsThe Division of Applied Social Sciences Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (IDE) Awards Ceremony was held earlier this month. The event honored students, faculty and alumni, and was presented by the DASS IDE Awards Committee. Learn more about the award recipients and see photos from the event. Upcoming listening sessionThe CAFNR Office of Research and CAFNR International Programs are sponsoring a college-wide listening session for faculty, staff and post-docs of Asian origin or descent who would like to discuss challenges faced from anti-Asian bias and discrimination. All interested faculty, staff and post-docs are invited to join. The session will be led by Shibu Jose, associate dean of research; Sang Kim, director of the MU Asian Affairs Center; and Kerry Clark, director of CAFNR International Programs. U.S. history demonstrates waves of intolerance towards groups of people and/or cultures, but the past few years has seen a marked increase in aggression against people of Asian descent. It is a concerning problem that is important to acknowledge and address. This meeting will be held in-person in conference room 2-43 (Ag Building) from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, May 20. A Zoom link will also be available to those requesting it. Please RSVP via e-mail to Kerry Clark at clarkk@missouri.edu if you will attend. (RSVPs will help coordinators judge if room capacity is adequate.)
