The CAFNR CIDC Committee and CAFNR Marketing & Communications are sharing new initiatives surrounding inclusion, diversity, equity and compassion efforts in the college, in collaboration with Vice Chancellor and Dean Daubert.
We looked at efforts across the college, and made suggestions on what could be scaled up to the college level and/or recommended to units, to work towards our Strategic Plan goals surrounding Cultivating a Diverse and Inclusive Community. Here are the new college-level initiatives, and ideas for units:
- Many CAFNR units participated in Mizzou IDE’s 10-week self-guided curriculum. Although this curriculum is no longer available, another option is now offered, Diversity Peer Educators Facilitation. Whether units have already participated in the 10-week curriculum or not, we recommend each department request a facilitation for their faculty and/or staff, perhaps during a regular unit meeting. More information is available online at multiculturalcenter.missouri.edu/dpe/
- We recommend each division form a CIDC Committee, with one of the members from each division also being part of the CAFNR Compassion, Inclusivity and Diversity Committee.
- The CAFNR Compassion, Inclusivity and Diversity Committee will resume the college-wide IDE Podcast Club for the spring semester to continue the conversations surrounding these topics. To encourage more participation across divisions and units, please fill out this survey to indicate what days and times you would be available to attend.
- CAFNR is establishing an award for Diversity and Inclusion efforts to be given at the college-wide spring award ceremony, Celebration of Excellence, to recognize excellence in efforts. Keep an eye out for the call for nominations.
