CAFNR RESEARCH SUPPORT

CAFNR Dissertation Research Improvement Grant
The CAFNR Office of Research is pleased to offer the CAFNR Dissertation Research Improvement Grant (C-DRIG) again. The purpose of this grant is to support dissertation research projects proposed by doctoral students in the College. Eligible students should have completed their coursework and have advanced to candidacy or will advance to candidacy within six months of the C-DRIG awards. This program has already helped many talented PhD students in our college to fund portions of their dissertation projects, while also giving them the opportunity to gain valuable grant-writing and management experience!

See more details: https://cafnr.missouri.edu/graduate-students/cafnr-dissertation-research-improvement-grants/

Proposals will be evaluated by the CAFNR Research Council, an advisory body that advises CAFNR Office of Research made up of representatives from each Division in the College, or other CAFNR faculty as needed. Awards have a duration of one year (6/1/26 to 5/31/27), and pre-award costs may be incurred up to 90 days prior to the award start date with approval from the Associate Dean for Research. No-cost extensions will not be granted, and any remaining funds will be reclaimed.

Application Deadline: March 15, 2026
Estimated Number of Awards: Five
Anticipated Funding Amount per Award: $2,000

Faculty, please bring this opportunity to the attention of eligible PhD students. Graduate students, please keep this in mind for the future if you are not eligible currently.

Statistical Support for CAFNR
Our college co-funds the Center for Applied Statistics and Data Analysis (CASDA), housed within the Department of Statistics and Data Science in the College of Arts and Science. CASDA services are available free of charge to CAFNR faculty, research staff, postdoctoral fellows, and students.

CASDA is a support center focused on providing statistical consulting and data analysis expertise to the Mizzou campus. They will be providing us access to a team of statisticians at various levels (PhD, Masters, GRA), pre- and post-award statistical support, experiment design consultation, recommendations for appropriate methods and software, programming support, data analysis support (coding, interpretation, journal methods write up; excluding graduate student theses and dissertations), and recommendations for contacts for new methodological development, if needed.

Please consider writing CASDA faculty into grants for FTE support if appropriate. They request at least 10% FTE and 10% shared credit. For extramural grants with a limited budget, a lower %FTE can be negotiated. CASDA faculty may also be co-authors on publications when they make a substantial contribution to the design, data analysis, or interpretation of results, as determined on a case-by-case basis in accordance with professional standards.

Graduate students who need statistical consultation for their proposal, grant application, and/or analysis of dissertation data can receive support using the request form.

If you have questions, contact the Director of CASDA, Dr. Suhwon Lee at LeeSuh@missouri.edu.
